You may have heard the exciting funding announcement made last summer regarding Memorial Hall. The federal government, as part of the Canada 150 celebrations in 2017, has earmarked money for renovations of our hall. The City of Hamilton is contributing additional funds for a massive-scale renovation. New downstairs flooring, upgraded kitchen and bathrooms, upgraded accessibility features, and more are planned, plus…an elevator to our second floor. We are very excited about our facility and look forward to unveiling it to all our members and guests.
This type of grand renovation will obviously take time. Therefore, our Board of Directors has been forced to suspend two of our productions in 2017. Our family show in February 2017 and our spring show in April 2017 will not be mounted. Those selected productions will be inserted into our schedule for later dates. Our Board discussed the possibilities of moving to a temporary location for those shows, but believe the logistics of such a move would be too difficult and we would not be able to mount the high-quality productions that our long time audience (and ourselves) have come to expect.
We intend on keeping our members, volunteers and audience supporters updated during the course of the renovations. We will also let you know about the Grand Reopening Celebration that will take place in the fall of 2017.
